XV ANNIVERSARY
Aguafuerte Galería, a leading contemporary art gallery in Mexico, celebrates two decades of history with a group exhibition featuring some of the artists who have shaped its trajectory. With locations in the Roma neighborhood of Mexico City and in Val’Quirico, Tlaxcala, this emblematic space commemorates its 20th anniversary by reaffirming its commitment to social critique, creative freedom, and art accessible to all.
Starting November 4th and running for a month, the gallery will present an exhibition showcasing essential figures from its history and guest artists such as Beatriz Zamora, Jazzamoart, Armando Romero, Macotela, Demián Flores, Héctor Massiel, Eskalante, and other prominent names in contemporary Mexican art.
The anniversary program includes an opening cocktail reception on November 6th at 7:00 pm and a special auction on November 20th at 7:00 pm, featuring emblematic pieces that reflect the gallery's provocative and diverse spirit.
For the past 20 years, Israel Alvarado, director and curator of Aguafuerte, has fostered the careers of numerous artists who now enjoy international recognition, such as Fabián Cháirez, Francesca Dalla Benetta, Héctor Massiel, and Francisco Soriano, all of whom took their first exhibitions at the gallery.
Aguafuerte's hallmark is its focus on social, political, and cultural themes that transcend the purely aesthetic: works that engage with feminism, sexual diversity, migration, and critiques of power. More than a commercial space, Aguafuerte is a laboratory of visual thought, where art generates conversation and awareness.
True to its motto, "Art for all," Aguafuerte remains a gallery open to both new collectors and audiences seeking to approach contemporary art from an inclusive and human perspective.
Everybody is welcome.
